He was born on December 22, 1930, in Zaporizhzhia. He graduated from Tbilisi Choreographic School in 1951. Between 1948 and 1949 he was a Ballet Master of the Transcaucasian Military District Ensemble.
Between 1955 and 1967 he was a soloist of Zakaria Paliashvili State Opera and Ballet Theatre. He worked in many theatres, including: theatres in Georgia, Leningrad, Kyiv, Odesa, Chisinau, Sverdlovsk, Omsk, Baku.
In 1964 he was a teacher of Tbilisi Choreographic School and Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University, becoming Head of Department between 1964 and 1973. From 1972 until the end of his life, he worked in Rustaveli National Theatre. He also worked in Sokhumi State Drama Theatre.
1964 – Honoured Artist of Georgia.
