Iuri Kakulia

He was born on January 17, 1923, in Kharagauli.

In 1946 he graduated from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University and, in 1952, from the RussianGITIS Institute of Theatre Arts, Faculty of Theatre Directing.

He worked at the following theatres:

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Sokhumi State Drama Theatre (1956-58; 1967-68, as a principal director; 1979-82, as a managing and artistic director); Kutaisi Lado Meskhishvili State Drama Theatre (1962-63, artistic director; 1970-72, managing and artistic director); Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University (1953-55, pedagogue); Akaki Tstereteli Drama Theatre (1979-82, managing and artistic Director); Kote Marjanishvili State Academic Drama Theatre (1964-68, director); Rustavi Theatre (1972-75, principal director; 1989, director); Gori State Drama Theatre (1975-79, managing and artistic Director); Akhmeteli State Drama Theatre (1986-89, principal director); Pantomime Theatre (1988-89, director-general of dramatic actors group ).
