Konstantine (Kote) Surmava

Director 

He was born on January 24, 1927, in Tbilisi. In 1952 he graduated from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University, Faculty of Theatre Directing.

From 1952 until 1960 he worked in the Youth Georgian Theatre and, between 1960 and 1968, in the Griboyedov Theatre. Between 1968 and 1979 he was an artistic director of the Youth Russian Theatre and, from 1970 to 1974, the Griboyedov Theatre. In 1975, together with Mikhail Tumanishvili, he founded the Film Actors Theatre. He has been working in cinema since 1962.

1967 – Honoured Art Worker of Georgia.
