And you know – they are not lying! This is how I feel when I listen to my long-time friend’s stories from Sokhumi State Drama Theatre. Sometimes very tragical, sometimes – hilarious. Especially, I am enthralled by listening to the stories taking place during the war period. Stories, which have no direct connection to the militant action. They tell stories without any excessive emotions, with humor, which is often very emotional. While listening to those stories, I shaped the idea of a new play. For me, remains indecipherable their love and affection by which they recall the most difficult period of their life. Despite the greatest misery, they still recall this period well. Maybe, in the theatre, we can find the solution to this very strange feature of humans. “We lived like a Millionaires!” – They say, with the smile on their faces. In the performance, I used plays by Eduardo de Filippo. War is everywhere the same, perhaps that is why the dramatic and comic situations played in the performance are so familiar to the modern Georgian audience.
