He was born on January 12, 1937, in Tbilisi. He graduated from Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory in 1960 (orchestral department), 1978 (compositional). Between 1959 and 1973 he was a pianist and conductor of the Georgian State Pop Orchestra Retro. Between 1973 and 1978 he was the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Georgian Television and Radio Pop Orchestra. In 1978 he was appointed head of the musical department of the Griboedov State Russian Theatre. He created music for stage works, including Sokhumi State Drama Theatre productions.
