Shota Khutsishvili

Painter

He was born on February 9, 1926, in Tbilisi. In 1951 he graduated from Tbilisi I. Nikoladze Art School (Faculty of Painting, artist Sherpilov’s workshop).

From 1956 to 1958 he worked as a painter at I. Sumbatashvili’s workshop and in parallel as a freelance artist-decorator at the Marjanishvili Theatre. From 1958 until the end of his life he was the main designer of the Gori Theatre. He designed numerous productions in almost all theatres of Georgia, including the Sokhumi State Drama Theatre.

Awards:

1979 – Kote Marjanishvili Prize;

1978 – A.L. Popov Silver Medal;

1967 – Honoured artist of Georgia.
