Gaioz (Gizo) Jordania
Georgian director, pedagogue
He was born on September 25, 1934, in Lanchkhuti. In 1958 he graduated from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University, Faculty of Theatre Directing.
From 1957 to 1958 he was a preparator at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University. He was a teacher between 1958 and 1961 and, in 1961, a senior teacher. He worked as a director at Batumi Drama Theatre (1961-65) and the Rustaveli National Theatre (1965-70 and 1979-86). He was a chief director of Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (1970-79), and Griboyedov Theatre (1979-86). Between 1991 and 1999 he was a rector of the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University.
Has staged more than 100 productions in Georgia and abroad. He is the author of scientific papers on the problems of dramatic theatre, opera and theatre pedagogy.
