Dato Evgenidze

Georgian composer and musician

He was born on December 2, 1958, in Tbilisi. He graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 1982.

From 1985to 1986 his work was on the stage of the Great Theatre. In 1987 he made his debut performances in New York. Since 1988 he has worked in France, Spain, USA and has participated in numerous jazz festivals. His compositions include: numerous songs, five chordal songs, two string quartets, piano preludes, romances, and a sonata for violoncello.

He writes music for theatre productions, films, and participates in international competitions.

Awards:

1997 – Best Musician of the Year (Tbilisi);

1996 – ‘Mana’ Prize;

1983 – USSR Music Competition, Grand Prix
